About the work

The golden concentric script is a handwritten mantra, its gradient from deep navy through cobalt to royal blue evokes expanding layers of awareness — a visual meditation on depth, clarity, and inner awakening - resembles a Kalachakra Mandala, or "Wheel of Time." The outer border of dragons and lotus motifs serves as a celestial guard of wisdom and protection, while the center bears the sacred syllable Hrih — the pure essence of Avalokiteśvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. #The Eight Auspicious Symbols (Ashtamangala) of Tibetan Buddhism: * Precious Parasol (protection) * White Conch Shell (fame of the Dharma) * Two Golden Fish (salvation from suffering) * Knot of Eternity/Endless Knot (intertwining of wisdom and compassion) * Vase of Great Treasures (longevity, prosperity) * Victory Banner (victory over ignorance) * Lotus Flower (purity, enlightenment) * Wheel of Dharma/Eight-Spoked Wheel (the Noble Eightfold Path) Its beauty is enhanced with a gold frame, with a coloured inner border, and an anti-glare glass.

Tradition and subject

Originating from the Himalayan regions of Tibet and Nepal, Thangka is a sacred Buddhist painting tradition that has been practised for centuries. Traditionally painted on hand-prepared cotton canvas using natural mineral and organic pigments, many masterpieces are further enriched with genuine gold detailing. Historically, monks created these works as an act of meditation and devotion, chanting prayers as each intricate brushstroke was applied. The focus is not on the artist, but on the spiritual message, which is why many traditional Thangkas remain unsigned. Revered subjects such as the Kalachakra, Om Mani Padme Hum, and the Healing Buddha are believed to inspire peace, wisdom, protection and positive energy, making them meaningful additions to homes, meditation rooms and business spaces alike.
