About the work
The Gold Thangka OM draws the eye inward through concentric pattern, Tibetan mantras, and the central Om syllable. Gold against blue and black creates a luminous meditative field, balancing precision with spiritual warmth. The work invites contemplation of creation, sound, and the still point within movement.
Tradition and subject
Originating from the Himalayan regions of Tibet and Nepal, Thangka is a sacred Buddhist painting tradition that has been practised for centuries. Traditionally painted on hand-prepared cotton canvas using natural mineral and organic pigments, many masterpieces are further enriched with genuine gold detailing. Historically, monks created these works as an act of meditation and devotion, chanting prayers as each intricate brushstroke was applied. The focus is not on the artist, but on the spiritual message, which is why many traditional Thangkas remain unsigned. Revered subjects such as the Kalachakra, Om Mani Padme Hum, and the Healing Buddha are believed to inspire peace, wisdom, protection and positive energy, making them meaningful additions to homes, meditation rooms and business spaces alike.
